I am looking for different types of exotics - desert rodents, etc?

I am looking for different types of exotic animals, as i am a hobbyist of herpetoculture. But preferably rodents ?I am looking for different types of exotics - desert rodents, etc?

Guinea Pigs are ultimately the best pets I have ever had. Apparently you can have flying squirrels as pets now too. Lesser Jerboa's and Greater Jerboa's may be good pets, but I don't know if you can buy them from a pet shop...:)
degu? Gird? Hedgehog? If you wsnt something more specialist then how about a sugar glider, they're marsupials rather than rodents but they are gorgeous little creatures!
