Why do guinea pigs need so much more living space then other rodents?

it just seems like with other rodents the importance of having a big cage isnt stressed as much, why?

and i have a 2x4 cage for my guinea pig, how do i do the fleece bedding thing? would using one think towel over puppy pads work well? Why do guinea pigs need so much more living space then other rodents?
Guinea pigs can't bend their backs like gerbils, mice, hamsters, etc and can't use a wheel. That means they need more room to move around and get a little exercise.

You need to be really careful with puppy pads. If your guinea pig eats it you could be looking at a blockage. You could use a doubled up piece of fleece and change it out daily. Shake off the poop outside and toss the fleece in the washing machine. If you put them in a covered trash can you could probably wait a couple of days and wash more than one fleece at once. I can't imagine the smell would be worse than a diaper pail and those aren't really bad at all.Why do guinea pigs need so much more living space then other rodents?
They need exercise. They are not that small either. I once had one that grew almost a foot. Do not use puppy pads. Guinea pigs tend to eat stuff they aren't suppose to like newspaper. So try to use something safer for their digestion. Oh and another thing...if you have a back yard take them out there with your supervision and let them play outside! They have a lot of more room to roam and lots of grass to eat. (with no pestasides or anything.) But they are just bigger animals. Like why dont you have a Great Dane living in an apartment? same thing.
