Is there anyway to stop my cat from bringing rodents in the house?

She's one year old and loves to hunt. She is miserable if I keep her indoors. She is fed, she doesn't eat them just kills them, tortures them, and leaves them in the house. I have small children and I don't want these disease ridden creatures running lose in my home (or dying and stinking up the place. What can I do to stop her???Is there anyway to stop my cat from bringing rodents in the house?
That's just what outdoor cats do. Seriously, if you put it outside, it's going to hunt, that's why people make their cats outdoor cats, so they can adhere to the ';natural instinct'; they think the cat has. And the ';natural instict'; that develops from being outside is to bring you presents and show you what a good hunter she is.

That's literally what the cat thinks the dead things are. Presents. If you reject them, the cat will feel offended and rejected.

Seriously, the only thing to do is to keep her inside, I'm sorry. It's safer, and it will guarantee you no more dead, diseased, or dying rodents. Cats can adjust to life indoors.

But it's your decision, it's up to you, and I can't tell you how to live your life. I just recommend that she stay inside, or you call an exterminator to see if they will exterminate the yard, instead of the actual home.

Some people put collars with bells on their cats, to attempt to ';scare'; off prey, but I never hear that that actually works...either the dead things still keep coming, or the cat gets choked and dies.

I don't really know what to tell you, and I'm sorry I can't be of more help.Is there anyway to stop my cat from bringing rodents in the house?
My outdoor cat got into the habit of starting to bring dead things into the house after months of appearing to be happy dropping them at the door. So we got into the habit of checking her mouth before she came in to break her of the habit.

But the darned dead mice parts kept on showing up anyway and we thought, okay, she's catching them in the basement. Well, that was wrong and one of the kids found out just how mistaken we were.

What she was, in fact, doing was bringing the mice to the back door and then going to the front door to enter the house. When the dog came in from the back yard he would pick up the mouse and deliver it to her.

How can you win when you have animals that are smarter than you are?
even tho she might love to hunt, you should keep her either indoors or outdoors. as much as you may not want or like it, its that or your children getting sick. keep her indoors and get her toys. and some that move. make her feel like shes hunting but without the dead animals. and if she is going in and out, she is bringing fleas and ticks into your house. they are more likely to give your children something cause they are all over the place and after your house is infested its really hard to get rid of everything.
There really is no way other than keeping her in the house. She may act miserable at first, but if you keep enough toys around she'll be fine. And indoor cats have longer, healthier lives so everybody wins.
with a shotgun :)
