How do you keep rodents out of autos? Engine compartments in particular.?

Live up in the mountains, and the little pests love to use the insulation and wire coating, under the hood. How do you keep rodents out of autos? Engine compartments in particular.?
Bounce dryer sheets. Smell drives rodents away. Works as well as mothballs, just without that mothball smell. How do you keep rodents out of autos? Engine compartments in particular.?
put steel wool in the holes and in the insulation
Several nylon stockings full of moth balls will do the trick Now if you can stand the smell keep dog food away from the car too! Tie the little bags you make to the corners where you see there little left overs.
cats are the best and easiest solution. Have to have an outside cat though. I also would recommend a king snake, but they leave after the food is gone.
keep mouse traps in your car.... or the glue traps... they might still get in, but at least they won't be there for long
