How do you make money from breeding rodents?

I am interested in breeding hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice, or rats. Which are easier to breed? How do I make money by doing this? How do you make money from breeding rodents?
mice would be easiest, but you won't make much money breeding any of these animals. The money you spend on supplies to raise them and the time you must spend cleaning cages just isn't worth the money. In fact you might actually lose money.

The only people that make money are commercial breeders, or feeder breeders, which i think is just wrong and the animals don't get a good quality of life. If you truly love a certain animal, and want to breed healthy, friendly animals for pets, then you can do that, but you won't make much money at all out of it.How do you make money from breeding rodents?
First off, breeding for money is the worst reason you could come up with. I assume this is why you're doing it because it's the only thing you've stated. The only reason you should breed rodents is #1 if you have someone lined up for each possible baby #2 you have an animal with an outstanding personality, great health/temperament, and rare markings. If you are not breeding for love of the animal or betterment of the species, don't breed at all. Rodent breeding can get out of hand very quickly. Rodents are prolific breeders, sometimes having nearly 20 babies in a single litter. Not to mention it's a very narrow market with few people being interested, therefore you can easily end up with HUNDREDS of animals. Pet stores already have breeders they buy from and anything extra they take is usually used for feeding their snakes. I've seen it happen. There are already enough critters without homes so please don't add to the numbers. There are too many people breeding without thinking of health, temperament, and well being of the animal.
you want to put animals lives at risk for the sake of making money! when people ask things on breeding their guinea pig/hamster etc... i always say, why do you want to breed, to make money, for the cute result?

never reply, must of hit their conscience.

anyone who breeds a rodent to make money is bringing more and more homeless and unwanted animals into this wrld that don't need to be. rabbits aren't rodents they are lagomorphs, so you don't know the difference either, they come under rodents becuase of their teeth and eyes.

you don't make much money, all have litters of around 4-7, they don't sell as much as they used to becuase of their popularity around the world today. mice, hamsters, rats, mice and gerbils will all sell for about 拢5 ech, a guinea pig around 拢8 i have fell out with a few of my friends for breeding their pets because they want money, and had an arguement over the internet.

making money from it isn't as easy as it sounds, you've got to wait about 3 weeks for them all except the guinea pig who needs to be with a male (obviously the rest too) for 5 wks instead of three. when born you have to buy another 2 cages so when they are 4 weeks old, they can be seperated in to male and female housed cages. then keep feeding them till about 7-8 weeks then advertise saying they are ready from now, but keep them feeding till they all get sold.

please don't breed, sorry for the lecture, oh yeah and for every rodent born into this world, say a hamster, guinea pig, gerbil, mouse and rat all had 4 babies each so adding to a total of 20, that means 40 animals are going homeless, and say if one of them any one, say guinea pig has 4 babies 8 guinea pigs go homeless somewhere around the world.
about 6 months ago a started to breed mice simply because the pet shop needed them, the even had a waiting list of people wanting them! its a great hobby and i enjoy doing it but you don't make much money at all, the pet shop buys them off me for $1 each and by the time you buy all the cages, drinking bottles, food and bedding it wont be worth it and you'll have to clean the cages out and keep supplying the food! so i suggest if you only want to do it for the money DONT because it'll cost you more money then what your going to make! the only reason i do it is to help the pet shop out and because i enjoy doing it!
Like everyone said - you don't make money breeding them. It is cruel to expect them to breed on your whim. Guinea pigs, my area, have horrible times with birthing pups. 1 in 5 (estimated, could be higher) mom pigs die before, during, or after the birth.

How could you do such a thing to a poor animal to make money?! The only way to make money is to actually get a job, a real one!
You won't make money selling them as pets.

You'll need to sell all, or most of them as feeders for snakes, etc.

How to start?

Start hitting pet stores in your area and find out who their supplier currently is, and what they pay for pets and feeders. Your best bet is the smaller, specialty pet shops. Large chains (Petco %26amp; Petsmart) rarely buy locally, but ask. You could get lucky.

Generally, breeding doesn't make any money. People are picky about suppliers, and it's hard to get ';reptile people'; to trust you.
unless you're a certified breeder from the state you won't make much. that can be illegal. also if your breeding for money and not quality then you could get sued. i wouldn't. leave it to the pros please. they can all have large litters and can be a hand full.
please dont do that.
I'm with Feathers on this one.
