Can you keep different kinds of rodents together in a cage together?

Im not planning on doing this i was just curious. Like for example, a gerbil and a hamster, or a mouse and a gerbil?

and is it possible for small rodents to crossbreed? Can you keep different kinds of rodents together in a cage together?
its not possible for them to crossbreed in most cases - like a gerbil and a hamster or something wouldnt work, buta dwarf and a syrian hamster would in theory :)

most rodents are extremely terrotorial also, and only just put up with their own kind (especially in males), never mind other species!

syrian hamsters in particular are very terrotorial, and would attack and kill a smaller rodent like a mouse without a problem, and would probably even have a go at a rat

best just to keep them with their own kind

...unless you posted this in the right section after all, then having a mouse and a rat in the same cage wouldnt be a problem, since they'd most likely be frozen anyway :)Can you keep different kinds of rodents together in a cage together?
Do not mix rodents, they will most likely kill each other. You can't even keep some of the same species together. They will not cross breed.

Just buy separate cages, they aren't that expensive.
yes. i once kept a lizard and a frog in the same house-sized cage for a whole thirty minutes.
i definitely wouldn't keep different typees of rodents in the same cage. I heard a short while ago that some rodents can cross breed but I'd imagine you could be waiting a while for that show!!!
Wrong section dear. Rodents are dinner here lol
yah if you got snakes to eat them in the cage??????
