Why do many peopel choose rabbits as alternatives to dogs and cats or even rodents?

Like if they don't have time for a dog, then why do they choose a rabbit instead of a cat or a rodent animal(hamster, chinchila, etc)? Also, on a side ntoe, can u keep a hare as a pet?Why do many peopel choose rabbits as alternatives to dogs and cats or even rodents?
Usually people pick a pet as a personal choice! They often don't take time to think of all the costs and care entailed! That is why so many wonderful animals end up at animal shelters**Why do many peopel choose rabbits as alternatives to dogs and cats or even rodents?
Because they are incredibley cute %26amp; innocent %26amp; sweet %26amp; can be a lot of fun, but as Rewerress pointed out they are VERY high maintenance pets. I would never recommend a bunny as a pet for a child, %26amp; the worst thing you can do for a bunny is give it to a child for Easter. Usually by September animal shelters get flooded w/ the poor things, whose novelty %26amp; cuteness have by that time worn off. You have to be a ';bunny person'; %26amp; willing to devote a lot of time to caring for it. I've had bunnies for close to 20 years now, %26amp; expect I will for the rest of my days.
well, for ma I chose a rabbit because that was the only animal I wasn't scared of. I am still scared of dogs and now I actually own two cats. I live in Australia so we don't have the choice of a hamster or an chinchila.
You mean keep a wild hare as a pet? Absolutely not.

Most people don't realize the dedication and time rabbits demand. They see them as less time-consuming pet than a cat or dog, and a more cuddly alternative to a hamster or mouse. What they get is a high-maintenance pet that doesn't like to be constantly handled.

Other people just prefer rabbits, the same way people prefer cats to dogs, or vice versa. It's all in a person's personal likes and lifestyles.
I have dogs, rabbits, a turtle, fish and birds!

Yep I have a virtual zoo!

I have been a ddog lover and owner all of my life, had never considered a rabbit until my 10 year old asked for one.

We now have 3 Rabbits, I had no idea how much like dogs these little Bunnies are! But! Do not need a large area to run, do not need walking every day, do not cost much to feed, give you nearly as much love as a dog, and are pretty healthy little things with not many vet bills!

So in answer to your question, people may not have the time to do all of those things with a dog, but can easily care for a bunny or two, or three!!
