It might sound crazy, but this might be a good solution: dried milk. The Green Gardenista recommended this solution, since apparently deer (and perhaps other mammals?) don't like the taste or smell of milk after being weened.
Here's the article for a more insightful description than I can give! :-) Hope this helps!
http://www.greengardenista.com/blog/green-ideas/garden-tip-diy-deer-repellant-with-dried-milkHow do I discourage pesky rodents and deer from my flowers?
Folks, this is a question that has been asked hundreds of times by hundreds of frustrated gardeners and answered by hundreds of well meaning folks with hundreds of home remedy ideas. Soap, human hair, urine, dogs, deer begone, etc., etc. The only thing that will deter deer, and rodents for that matter, is fencing.
I feel your pain. I too have a herd of deer in my backyard. Deer eat everything in their paths. The only thing to do is put up temporary fencing. Deer are creatures of habit. They take the same route as long as they can. If you can discourage them from eating your begonia by fencing it in, they might take a different route. Good luck.
P.S. Getting a dog helped a little.
i heard human hair clippings will stop deer from coming around
