Is it true that owning a ferret prevents rodents coming near the home?

I've heard that owning a pet ferret will ward off mice or rats from coming anywhere near the inside of the house as they know the ferret is present. I wondered if anyone could elaborate? Is it true that owning a ferret prevents rodents coming near the home?
It is possible, but it won't work all of the time. Ferrets are natural predators to mice and rats, but some are dogs and cats and many times mice and rats bed up in dog/cat households. Is it true that owning a ferret prevents rodents coming near the home?
Lol! Not that I know of.

I own 3 ferrets. When I got my first one, we had a major mouse problem. Mice were running around the room where the ferret was. So... yeah. I dont think it matters unless your ferrets free roam your house and have a high prey instinct.
