How do I get over the fear of rodents?

I want to open a pet store that actually deals in birds. But, i'm told that I need to at least carry rats and feeder mice along with goldfish. But, I'm freaking scared of rodents. Just being close to even a tank with them in it I get the creeps. How do I over come this? How do I get over the fear of rodents?
I am totally scared of most spiders. But, if I see a book on them, and even read about what types of animals eat them, I end up feeling very bad for them. Go to your local library and pick up a book or two about rats, or any other type of rodent you are afraid of. Read about what they end up going through in the wild, and what kinds of animals eat them. You are bound to feel bad for any animal that gets eaten by bigger birds, snakes, and many other animals.

I hope that i helped! Thanks, and good luck with your future pet store!,

Do you know anyone who has a rodent as a pet? Preferably a playful, rather than aggressive one. Years ago, I took a pet rat on a theatre tour with me and colleagues who thought they hated rats, soon found out how lovely they could be. None wanted one as a pet, but almost everyone liked mine. I suspect that your fear is more of a lack of understanding. Rats can be just like puppies - they are soft and furry, cute and playful. If you do have a major phobia, then perhaps finding someone to help you to deal with it might be better. I don't understand why you can't just be a bird specialist though - it will be your shop. Can't you sell what you want?
Just think of the size difference between you and them and also about the fact that you can stomp on them with one foot if need be.
